When a friend said this to me, I felt a sense of relief.
Sometimes those who don’t truly support us may be closer than we think. They may walk silently or vocally in our shadow.
Over the years I’ve welcomed many into my space ~ shared meals, stories, and moments of intimacy with them.
Those connections can be magical. Like the invisible ingredients of love & effort that heighten the food experience on our dinner plates.
Relationships evolve. Some people you meet are lifers, and others fall after a few tricky hurdles. Whether good or bad, all experiences come with a wisdom to help us move forward. How do we recognise those who are able to hold the ladder steady?
Perhaps they are so aligned they become almost invisible, growing alongside you, sailing in the same direction at their own speed. Sometimes it’s good to drop an anchor and welcome them aboard. An opportunity to discuss & navigate your journeys ahead and celebrate the distance travelled.
And as for the others?
‘Not everyone has to like you.’
Just sail forward on a gentle breeze.
